The guard tower in RF Online
A guard tower is there to protect its owner. Guard towers come in two kinds: the self-installing towers at a city entrance, and the ones characters can set themselves, namely the Craftsman of the Bellato Federation, the Craftsman of the Holy Alliance Cora and the Engineer of the Accretian Empire.
What a guard tower does
1. It attacks players of other races who come into its range.
2. It can be set up and taken down freely.
3. Setting one up needs the tower itself, gems, and a certain amount of time.
4. How long it takes depends on the kind of tower. While it is being set up the tower can be attacked.
5. If you take a tower down before its durability reaches 0 you keep the tower, but the gems are spent.
6. You can place up to 6 towers. A tower cannot be placed inside another tower's range.
7. When durability reaches 0 the tower is destroyed.
8. A tower cannot be repaired, only bought again from the Vendor NPC.

Using a guard tower
Step 1: getting ready

Setting up a guard tower needs the right materials. Guard towers can be bought from the Vendor NPC in headquarters territory, and the gems needed to place them can be refined from ore, traded with other players or bought at auction.
Step 2: placing it

Go to the spot where you want the tower, open your inventory and right-click it. The guard tower appears where you chose and, after a short while, takes its finished form. You can place at most 3 guard towers.
Careful. To remove a guard tower, hold Ctrl and click it, then choose recall from the menu and the tower returns to your inventory.
Step 3: in use

Once the tower has taken its finished form, it is placed. Guard towers have a range, and they attack only the monsters their owner attacks and the ones attacking the owner. Characters of another race are attacked automatically the moment they enter the tower's range. When the character who placed the tower leaves the game, it folds back into the inventory automatically.
Careful. A guard tower's durability does not recover. If it falls to 0 under attack the tower is destroyed. When you place it again, its durability is whatever it was when you folded it away.
