RF Online today
Can you still play the original RF Online?
Yes. The services that ran RF Online around the world closed one by one, and the last of them, in Taiwan, shut on 31 December 2025. The original game, the sci-fi MMORPG by CCR, still runs here: version 2.1.5 of Episode 2, with the game itself unchanged, free, and with an English or a Russian client.
What happened to the original services
RF Online never had one publisher for the whole world. CCR, the Korean studio that made it, licensed it region by region, and each region ran its own service with its own client. Netmarble bought CCR in 2020, and over the next few years the remaining licences ran out.

Characters closed with their service. There were no transfers between regions, so everyone who comes back starts again.
RF Online vs RF Online Next
RF Online Next is Netmarble's sequel, released worldwide on 16 June 2026 for PC and mobile (announcement). It reuses the old names, the three races, the MAU and the Animus, in a new game with a Biosuit system that lets one character switch between roles.
In the original, your race is chosen once and decides the rest: which classes you can take, whether you fight with Force, launchers or a MAU, and which side of every war you are on. The world is the planet Novus with its original zones, the war for the Crag Mines, the race leader the players elect every week, and the Holy Stone Keeper.
The classic version you play here
Many RF Online projects running today use later updates of the game, the 2.2.3 or the 4.x line, which add their own systems to Episode 2. This one runs RF Online 2.1.5, the Episode 2 build, as the official services had it:
- The three races, the Bellato Union, the Holy Alliance Cora and the Accretian Empire, with all of their classes.
- Every zone of the original map, from the Sette Desert to Ether, with the same creatures in it.
- The war for the Crag Mines, the weekly vote for the race leader, guilds and the Battle Dungeons.
- The official client in English or Russian. The English client is built from the official Codemasters files; you pick the language in the launcher.
How to start
- Create an account on this site. You use the same account in the game.
- Press Play. On Windows a small launcher downloads the 4.2 GB client, checks every file and keeps it up to date. On a Mac our app does the same; it is still experimental.
- Pick a race and a class.

Is it the same game as the official RF Online?
Yes. It is the Episode 2 client and server, version 2.1.5, with the game itself unchanged.
Can I get my old character back?
No. Characters stayed with the service they were made on and closed with it. Everyone here starts a new character.
Is it free?
Yes. The account, the client and the game cost nothing.
Can I play on a Mac?
Yes, through our Mac app, which runs the Windows client for you. It is still experimental, so some things may misbehave. On Windows 10 and 11 the launcher is all you need.
