Getting started

Using items

The basics

Open the inventory, point at the item and right-click it (this includes items with a limited number of uses).

The hotkey bar

To do well you can, and should, use more than the mouse. The hotkey bar at the bottom of the screen gives quick, convenient access to the spells and weapons you need.

One row holds 10 hotkeys for quick item use, and each bar has 5 rows: hotkeys for 50 items in all.

01 | Expand / collapse / reset

Expand: show every row of the bar

Collapse: show only the first row

Reset: activate every inactive row

02 | Row number
The current row. Change it with Tab or the arrow keys.

03 | Activation
To deactivate, that is hide, a row press . Tab and the arrows skip deactivated rows.

04 | Hotkeys
Use the hotkeys with F1–F10. To switch from F1–F10 to the number keys 1–0 press .

Putting items on the bar

To pick up an item, point at it and press the left mouse button; while carried, its picture grows. To put it back, do the same in reverse. Items can also be moved between empty cells of the bar; dropping one onto an occupied cell swaps the two.

Bring the item over the cell you want and left-click again. The item is now on the bar.

Note

Hold Alt for automatic item handling.

To use an item press its key or right-click it.

Equipping and unequipping

Left-click the item; the cursor takes the item's shape.

Once the item is selected, the slot it can go into is highlighted in yellow. Bring the item over it and left-click. This is how, for example, you load ammunition into a weapon.

Note

Not every item can be equipped or used. Your character must meet some conditions:

01Has your character reached the level the item requires?
02Does your character's race allow this item?
03Does your character's mastery meet the requirement?

Picking up and dropping

While hunting, items fall to the ground: weapons, armour, resources. To pick one up press X or Space, or left-click it.

Note

If an item cannot be picked up, one of these is the reason:

  • you have no right to it, or it was left by characters of another race
  • the cursor is in skill or Force selection mode
  • your inventory is full

Select the unwanted item in the inventory with a left-click, carry it outside the window onto free space and click again. A dropped item disappears after a while.

Note

Before dropping an item, make sure you really do not need it.
