Combat — PvP and RvR

Fighting monsters

Monsters show on the radar as yellow dots. Some monsters are aggressive and attack first, so take care.

When you move the cursor over a monster it changes from blue to red. Click the left mouse button to select the monster and take aim; an information panel about it appears at the top of the screen.

What the monster information panel shows:

1. The monster's name.

2. The monster's health (HP).

3. The difference in level between you and the monster, shown as round markers in different colours. The number of markers is how many levels the monster is above you. One marker in the picture means the monster is one level higher.

4. Monsters come in kinds: Normal, Ace and Pit boss.

To attack, click the left mouse button on the selected monster again or press Space. Using an attack skill or Force also begins an attack.

Note. You can keep pressing Space or the mouse to attack continuously, but there is an easier way. Turn on automatic attack and your character will keep attacking the monster until it dies. Press Z, or Ctrl+Z.

Manual mode. One attack at a time.

Automatic mode. Attacks the monster until it dies.

Player against player, race against race

The central idea of RF Online is constant confrontation. Players of different races can therefore attack one another whenever they please. That is the race war: Race versus Race, or RvR.

Attacking a player of another race

Members of the other races show on the radar in these colours:

When you move the cursor over a character of another race it turns red. Click the left mouse button at that point and an interface with information about the selected target appears.

Click the left mouse button again, or press Space, or choose an attack with a skill or Force, and your character attacks.

Note. No attack is possible inside any race's headquarters territory.

Attacking a player of your own race

To attack a player of your own race you need to visit the Hero NPC of your race and buy a Chaos Potion from them. Once you drink it, and the effect lasts 600 seconds, you can attack players of your own race. To return to normal you can simply wait for the effect to run out, or drink a healing potion, which the Hero NPC also sells.
