Planet Novus

Space

Planet Novus lies in the Naigo system and orbits its central star, which carries the same name. The Naigo planetary system, together with the Limen system beside it, sits on the border of the Solar System.

Time

The distant future, the year 9000 AD. By the fourth millennium humanity had already begun to colonise other galaxies. Colonisation went well until humanity met a wholly alien race, the Gerodians. In a very short time the Gerodians destroyed most of humanity, across almost every galaxy and sector. Every attempt to stand against the aliens' fanatical aggression failed, and humanity was doomed. The only survivors were the people of the Novus sector. The Gerodians could not attack Novus because of an unknown radiation there that was lethal to them. In their attempts to destroy the last human colony, the Gerodians turned to a mysterious and deadly virus.

Culture

Humanity in the Novus sector fought desperately to seal itself off from that spreading virus, the Gerodians' mysterious weapon for wiping out the human race. Not only transport routes were cut, but communications too. In complete isolation, humanity set about settling the Novus sector and evolving to suit the world it now lived in. The Cora chose a civilisation of the spiritual mind, the Accretians took the path of neuromechanics, and the Bellato chose a civilisation whose chief aim became the balance between mind and technology.

Economy

Every state has its own internal currency. Alongside those, platinum counts as the common unit. Exchange rates against platinum depend on the volume of resources each race controls, and shift with whoever is dominant in the bitter fighting over the mines of Novus.
